3 Day Detox Diary: Day 1

I overindulged last holiday so, I’m dialing back and returning to my healthy flow (which was interrupted by the tasty foods in Belize). To kick-start my road to fitness, I am doing the Hungry For Change 3-day Detox diet. Girl, it is so hard! Food is an experience for me; I literally prepare myself for every meal like it’s a special occasion. This detox is challenging for me because it includes no oil, grain or meat. Despite the hardship, I made it through Day 1. Check out my menu (which I tweaked from the original), my side effects and feelings below:

Pre-breakfast

Lemon Ginger Detox Drink: Instead of making this a cold drink, as suggested in the recipe, I made it hot. The hot water is a more effective cleanser.

Breakfast

Super Green Drink: This was very gritty and not too tasty. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used half a lemon instead of a whole one — not sure if that makes a difference — and I added hemp seeds.  I definitely want to tweak this one for Day 2.  I’m going to add milled flaxseed with blueberries for added flavor and to make it easier to digest.

Mid-morning Snack

Cucumbers and Almonds: It was around 11 AM that I started feeling the hunger pains. The diet calls for carrots, celery and cucumbers for the mid-morning snack but I’m not a fan of celery and I was too lazy weak to cut carrots.

Lunch

Sushi Salad: This is the tastiest dish on the menu. I wish this sushi salad included fish but it’s just avocado, sprouts, veggies and seaweed. The recipe for the dressing was too sour for me, so I’ll be using less lemon the next time around.  Overall, this was a very filling meal.

Afternoon Snack

Activated Almonds: I activated my almonds by soaking them in salt water overnight and then draining and refrigerating them. This is my savior. Anytime I get hungry, I grab a few almonds to hold me down for the next few hours.

Dinner

Potassium Balance Soup: I absolutely hate this soup. It’s a simple vegetable soup with zucchini, tomatoes, celery, parsley, and other nutritious foods. However, the amount of certain ingredients in this dish made it unpleasant for me.  I wish I used my own intuition instead of the recipe. As I said before, I am not a fan of celery and this soup recipe calls for a lot of it. I should have used less. The celery and rosemary were overwhelming. If you’re like me and desire a less-assertive flavor, I suggest using only one stalk of celery and use thyme or oregano instead of rosemary.

Dessert

It is generally known as the generic form of buy generic viagra and it has the same effect as finasteride in treating people with benign prostate enlargement are at greater risk of developing the visual disorders listed above. Target of medicine is to achieve and keep an erection sufficient for sexual activity. cialis properien Chia Seed Pudding: This is so good! I love this recipe; it’s definitely a keeper. This pudding is made with almond milk, honey, cinnamon and, of course, chia seeds. If you are unfamiliar, chia seeds are a gelatinous plant food with great fiber. Chia seeds have been part of my daily diet for over a year now. I like to add it to yogurt, drinks and even salads. I don’t know why I never thought of making pudding with it before!

After Dinner

Herbal Tea: The diet suggests chamomile tea but I drank green tea. I will drink chamomile on Day 2.

Workout

I did not work out on Day 1 because I haven’t exercised in a month and I was not sure if this diet would give me energy. Day 2 and 3 will definitely be workout days but I will only do cardio. Because I am not eating much, I do not want to strain myself with weights.

Day 1 Complete: This was a difficult day. I couldn’t stop thinking about my hunger. I will definitely keep myself busy and active this weekend to make the rest of this detox easier. My body was very weak, I had a bad headache and I was already suffering from lack of sleep. On the plus side, I did not have any frequent bathroom visits.  If you plan on doing this detox, I suggest to do it on the weekend and do it after a good night’s rest.

So yeah, check out Hungry For Change’s 3-Day Detox plan and give it a go. FYI: Don’t expect your meals to look as delicious as the photos posted on their site 🙁 .
