I’m a Bronx native and I ain’t GHETTO!
This dude is just a nonstop hot topic these days. The British legend hit my borough recently with a controversial work: “Ghetto 4 Life” shown spray painted by a rich little boy with his butler on hand. Banksy allegedly spray painted the “Ghetto 4 Life”  but there are some conspiracy theorists saying that the artist simply just added the stencil work to an already existing graffiti. Whatever it is that happened, I’m tired of privileged upper class folks making a claim on something they have no first-hand knowledge about for the sake of art. Over the years “ghetto” has garnered a better reputation for being cool or hip, but it’s actually not something real-life ghetto residents are proud of. The point is to leave the ghetto or at least survive it.  A bunch of new New Yorkers flocked over to the South Bronx to check out the hype. Of course, a majority of peeps did not see anything wrong with it but of course, they don’t live here.  I’m not super salty about it. I would actually appreciate or respect it if it were from someone who was born and raised here. It just seems like a forced act for a profound or edgy moment.  Meh…whatevs
